The present article is linked with one dealing with grassland improvement and utilization in Nigeria that appeared in Outlook III (4). Although the full potential is as yet scarcely broached, current output is not negligible and includes cattle for beef and milk, as well as pigs, sheep and goats. The challenges offered by climate, disease and social custom, in a country of 40–50 million people, are well recognized and are being met.
