Cinema advertising in Australia is dominated by three cinema advertising contractors — Val Morgan & Co, Pearl and Dean, and Brunnen Whitehead Advertising. The operations of the advertising contractors are described and the question of the value of cinema as an advertising medium is examined. Although the comparative (compared to TV) absence of government regulations governing cinema advertising might appear to make it an attractive medium, cinema is one of the least favoured media for advertisers.
