MMPI Personality Patterns for Several Semi-Skilled and Unskilled Occupational Groups

Abstract

While the MMPI has been utilized in studying the personality characteristics of many different vocational groups, nearly all of these have been in upper level professional and managerial classes. There have been few studies with semi-skilled occupations and none with unskilled groups. The present research presented MMPI mean T scores, standard deviations, and modified Welsh codes for normal male messengers, guards, warehousemen, clerks, reproduction room assistants, and two categories of laborers. In the groups as a whole, the high-point Pd scale was accompanied by a low Si score. Validity scores were within acceptable limits, and none of the mean clinical T scores exceeded 65. Other personality factors were discussed.
