Abstract
A quarter of a century after his retirement, Professor John Peter Blandy's influence, perhaps more than any other, is still very strongly felt by our specialty as a consequence of his drive to innovate and introduce new techniques, as a result of his efforts to rationalise and reorganise training, and from his still relevant and important textbooks. This profile of the professor is based on an interview with him in September 2009.
