Abstract
Despite the evidence for evolution, it remains unproven, and has several unresolved issues, notably its relation to entropy and its possibility in the accepted timescale. Christians also continue to debate how it relates to the biblical account of creation. A solution is that as God has limited himself to allow the independent existence of the universe, he also allowed its development by evolution. This is consistent with both theism and God’s sovereignty. Among others, two significant proposals are of ‘theistic evolution’, by which God created in such a way that evolution would proceed according to his will, and ‘intelligent design’, which sees a limited number of direct divine interventions. A combination of these is proposed as most in keeping with the evidence.
