Abstract
Researchers in Singapore have been involved in the conduct of clinical drug trials since the 1970s. Regulation of the conduct of clinical drug trials has been in place since 1978. Over the past 10 years, there has been an increase in the number of clinical trials conducted in Singapore. With the establishment of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Coordinating Centre for Good Clinical Practice (APECCC-GCP) in Singapore, Singapore is poised as a medical hub for drug research in the region. In view of the recent local developments in drug research, the Singapore Ministry of Health has drawn up the Singapore Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice and has reviewed the clinical trials regulations and procedure for approval of clinical trials. This will help to promote drug research which meets world class standards.
