The purpose of this column is to demonstrate that evidence -based practice actually grew out of the process of research utilization. To that end, there will be a discussion about research utilization and evidence -based practice to expose the linkage between them. Then the newer ideas of implementation and de-implementation science will also be shown to have roots in the process of research utilization.
