Abstract
Aiming at assembly sequence planning problems for large-scale assembly, a sequence generation approach is proposed based on an integrated assembly model. First, by analysing geometrical constraint and tool constraint relationships, a novel integrated assembly model is proposed which includes geometrical constraint and tool constraint relationship equations. Then, a feasible assembly sequence of each subassembly can be obtained by calculating the assembly constraint relationship equations of parts or subsubassemblies. Furthermore, the final assembly sequences of the product are obtained by iterating the feasible assembly sequence of subassemblies according to the hierarchical relation of assembly process structure tree. Finally, the complexity of the proposed method is analysed and compared with existing methods. A demonstration case is given and the results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective and very suitable for large-scale assembly.
