Abstract
This study validates the Work Capital Scale (WCS) among Chinese working adults, confirming its reliability through rigorous back-translation and factor analysis. The original WCS was translated into Chinese using a rigorous back-translation method. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted on a randomly selected 40% of the 636 participants, while Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted on the remaining 60%. The results confirmed the four-factor structure of the WCS, demonstrating good internal consistency and construct validity. The invariance testing across genders also confirmed the scale’s robustness. The final Cronbach’s alpha coefficients ranged from .896 to .943 for the dimensions, with an overall scale of .947. The study found significant correlations between work capital and related constructs, supporting the concurrent validity of the Chinese WCS. Despite these strengths, limitations include the sample’s demographic homogeneity and the need for larger samples in future research.
