Abstract
A survey of more than three hundred journalism instructors who belong to the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication sought to find out by what methods they learned to teach journalism, what advice they had for new teachers and academic units seeking to improve teaching, and what effective and/or innovative teaching techniques they use in the classroom. Learning by doing was not the only way instructors learned how to teach journalism.
