Abstract
This study examines the development of data journalism education in four Indonesian universities, focusing on curriculum design, instructional practices, and educator competencies. Using a qualitative multi-case approach, it analyzes how institutions respond to global trends while navigating local challenges such as limited resources, technical expertise, and student preparedness. The findings highlight a pragmatic, software-dependent pedagogy rooted in collaborative and experiential learning. While inspired by Western models, Indonesian programs reflect unique adaptations shaped by Global South conditions. The study calls for greater investment in interdisciplinary training and localized curriculum development to support sustainable, context-sensitive data journalism education.
