This article expounds upon my best friendship with someone 40 years my senior while she was dying of cancer. The article is guided by excerpts from Audre Lorde's The Cancer Journals, and details several lessons learned from Lorde and my friend, Frances, about defining what we need to survive (and die) as an inherently revolutionary and feminist act.
