Abstract
In this article, we provide instructors with a ready-to-use experiential exercise to teach the Job Characteristics Model (JCM), ideally suited for use in undergraduate management courses. We begin with a brief introduction and literature review of the JCM, followed by video links and a facilitation guide to introduce the topic. The engaging taking flight exercise includes learning objectives, an overview of the exercise, detailed implementation instructions, a student handout, and a list of materials and technology needed to guide the instructor. The exercise concludes with a debrief and reflection worksheet offering questions to engage students in a lively discussion about the application of the JCM to the exercise and to their own job experiences.
