Abstract
The article discusses the intersection of talent management, learning solutions and organisational development, emphasising the importance of talent management. It outlines a guiding principle for determining which team takes the lead based on the focus of the project, highlighting the strengths of learning teams in collective initiatives and the personalised nature of talent management. The author emphasises the essence of working closely with talent, emphasising the need for understanding individuals’ unique journeys and behaviours within their organisational context. The concept of mapping an individual’s growth on ‘The S Curve of Learning’ is introduced and the role of a talent manager in positioning individuals on this curve is detailed. The document emphasises the personal nature of talent management, highlighting the need for time, intention and trust in developing individuals. It concludes by emphasising that great talent management is about liberating talent rather than simply managing it.
