The purpose of this study was to develop a statistical model (index) for quantitative estimation of arc stability. In the welding experiments, spatter was captured during welding and the amount was considered. At the same time, several factors were extracted from the measured waveforms. For quantitative estimation of arc stability, linear and non-linear regression models, composed of factors selected from the extracted factors, were proposed using multiple regression analysis. Through assessment of each proposed model concerning the amount of generated spatter, the best estimation model (index) accurately representing arc stability was developed.
