Abstract
Worldwide depletion of fossil fuel due to its greater utilization is causing a serious threat to the environment. This has drawn global attention to its conservation, and the search for an alternative to fossil fuel driven engines. Compressed air is a potential working fluid for generating shaft work, and it can be a viable alternative to run light motor vehicles with reasonably small inbuilt compressed air tanks. In this article, the details of the development of a small air turbine with vaned-type rotor are presented. The proposed air turbine has been developed, and is in the process of being tested. Results based on its testing are presented here.
