The Center for Men's Leadership and Service, the first men's center on a liberal arts college campus, was inspired by the connection Saint John's University has with men's studies scholars associated with the American Men's Studies Association (AMSA). The center's mission is to create a safe and respectful place for women and men to explore the masculine condition and to foster research, programs, and publications in the field of men's studies. This issue of The Journal of Men's Studies provides an opportunity to share some of the work done in the center by its many contributors and to highlight the emerging phenomenon of men's centers on college campuses.
